Welcome to the Connie J. Link Amphitheater! Built in 2008, The Connie Link Amphitheater is seated just off the Constitution Trail off of Linden Street. This lovely little theatre boasts of concerts, movies, and most notably musical theatre. It is home to Normal Parks and Recreation Summer Music Theatre program whose mission is to provide local high school students the opportunity to practice their craft in an outdoor community setting. A Continuing Tradition The Link Amphitheatre rose from the ashes of the former Maxwell Park Theatre that burned entirely in May of 2002. Parents, Alums, and Summer Theatre Participants along with the summer theatre staff worked tirelessly to raise funds to outfit the new amphitheatre that was relocated to the current site just behind the Park Maintenance Building at 611 S. Linden Street. The amphitheatre was proclaimed the Connie J. Link Amphitheatre in October of 2007 by the Normal City Council by petition of Karen and Ron Gannaway, longtime parent supporters. The naming was to honor its longtime manager Connie Link who worked with and later managed the Summer Theatre Program from 1976 until her passing in January of 2008. Connie served as business manager, director and managing director for 31 years. She influenced countless teens as well as providing an outlet for art and performance for the community. Anyone who has been associated with summer theatre can say that Connie Link and Maxwell Summer Theatre are synonymous. Locating the Link Amphitheater and Parking The Connie Link Amphitheater is located just behind the Park Maintenance Building at 611 S. Linden Street in Normal, Illinois. One can access it from the constitution trail just west of the Linden street footbridge. Parking is available at 611 S. Linden, at Underwood Park and at the back row of the apartment complex just across the street from the theatre. Patrons are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating. Some rental chairs are available at the music theatre performances. Restroom facilities as well as wheelchair seating is available. Why Not Join Us for Some Fresh Air and Entertaining Music Theatre?
